Text description provided by the architects. The KITZ - Munich first "Early Excellence Centre" for children, parents and their families, opened up just right now and welcomes everybody to join that open house.
South of the city of fairs München-Riem, at the border of a new build landscape lies the KinderTagesZenrum for 120 children, aged between 1 and 12: at the ground floor, connected to the garden the smaller kits between 1 and 6 and on the first floor on treelevel, the elder ones from 6 to 12.
"form follows energy & light" - the simple organized plan serves all spaces for the children towards the garden in the south, the corridor in the middle gets daylight from three "e³- skylights" on the roof of the building: light and fresh air gets into the house, photovoltaic panels gain solar power for the institution.
"Genius loci" - anchoring on site. the choice of materials follows the specific landscaped surrounding: handmade plastered gardenwalls are organizing the ground floor, wooden boxes on level of the surrounding trees form the upper floorplan. The arbor-like made facade relates more to garden houses than to the solid formed building-environment.
